Since early April 2025, we have been working to establish an old half-timbered house and barn in Rössing, south of Hanover, as a home for the Fotobus Society and as a communal living project. The so-called Fotobus House is a self-managed, solidarity-based community where photographers live and work collectively. Together, we have already achieved a great deal and created a wonderful space for photography. In the coming months and years, the barn will gradually be transformed into a cultural space for photo exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, live music, lectures, and more.
Since the non-profit Fotobus Society was unfortunately unable to purchase the house in Rössing, Christoph and Chiho Bangert bought it. They are making the house, including the barn, permanently available to the non-profit Fotobus Society.
A total of six student Fotobus members live in the house. The students pay a monthly fee of 275 euros per person to cover part of the house’s operating costs.
The journalist Anna Seibt has been documenting the development of the Fotobus House for the past year as part of a long-term documentary for a one-hour radio program scheduled to air on Deutschlandfunk in summer 2026. Anna Seibt had previously produced a segment on the Fotobus project for the Deutschlandfunk program “Campus & Karriere” (in German).
